We explain why this is significant: the DSA is not an ordinary faction within the Democratic coalition. Its own website describes its mission as building a party designed to defeat capitalist oligarchy, draft a new constitution, and create a democratic socialist republic. It does not want to reform the Democratic Party. It wants to destroy it from within and replace it with something fundamentally different. We walk through what communism actually promises — from each according to their ability, to each according to their need — and what that has produced every single time it has been tried.

Teri shares the story of her mother, who was 13 years old when her father died and never forgot watching cars pull over and people step outside to stand at attention for a man they had never met. Kimberly shares the story of accidentally wedging herself between two limousines in a funeral procession while driving from Benton to Bossier — realized it mid-drive, and discreetly exited as quickly and apologetically as possible. The larger point: funerals aren't for the dead. They're for the living. And when strangers pull over to honor someone they never knew, the family feels it.

We dig deep into the Democrat Promise to America — a document modeled on Newt Gingrich's Contract with America, produced by a Democrat congressman and circulated to all 212 House Democrats for signatures. The document says the party is capitalist, not socialist. That it wants safety, not lawlessness. That it will prioritize balancing the budget. That government should solve problems, not create them. That it embraces free speech and persuasion over purity. And that Democrats are proud, not ashamed of America. Out of 212 House Democrats, 15 signed it. Fifteen. We let that sit there.

We also cover a one-mile radius in Flushing, New York — where social adult daycares have been billing Medicaid for more than $100 million per year, with storefronts shuttered and rooms empty. We connect it to the broader point that waste, fraud, and abuse in government programs are not accidents. They are incentives — what happens when bureaucracies have no accountability, no profit motive, and no one asking whether the money is actually doing any good.

It is the understanding that how you present yourself shapes how you see yourself — and that you walk differently in dress shoes than you do in sneakers. Tuskegee is preparing its students for a lifetime of success. We call it a bright spot.
