View descriptionShare

Every morning at Mount Carmel-Blytheswood begins with O Canada. While most students stand, Jaylynn—a bright and determined Grade 5 student with Cerebral Palsy—has always prepared in her heart while sitting in her wheelchair.
But today was different.

With the help of her brand-new wheelchair equipped with standing technology, Jaylynn raised herself up—independently—for the very first time. After six years at MCB, she stood tall alongside her peers for the national anthem. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room.

This moment wasn’t just about standing—it was about independence, strength, and the incredible support of a community that celebrates every milestone.
We are so proud of you, Jaylynn. Thank you for showing us what resilience and courage look like.
