As deepfakes and AI-generated misinformation flood our feeds, nonprofit MediaSmarts, Canada's centre for digital media literacy, is launching its 20th annual Media Literacy Week (October 27–31) — a national campaign helping Canadians build the critical thinking skills needed to navigate today’s online world.
This year’s theme, “Wait… What?”, highlights the importance of pausing and questioning the accuracy of what we see online. Events and activities are happening across the country — from classrooms and libraries to seniors’ centres and community groups — encouraging everyone to become more informed and responsible digital citizens.
