Summer vacation is drawing to a close and the kids will be returning to class in a few short weeks. Polls show that while parents are dreading this time of year and the costs associated with back-school, they are prepared to spend to get their child classroom ready. Surveys show nearly nine-in-ten (85.7%) parents will spend the same or more than last year, budgeting an average of $586 per child for back-to-school shopping. Half (50%) of parents say they plan to sacrifice necessities, such as groceries and bills, to ensure their kids have what they need for the new school year, more than one-third (34%) of parents admit they will take on debt, such as credit card debt, to pay for school supplies.
