MAUDE’S AWARDS 2026 RECIPIENTS  ON ALZHEIMER'S SPEAKS PODCAST

MAUDE’S AWARDS 2026 RECIPIENTS

#Poetry4Dementia #DementiaFriendlySpirituality #MaudesAwards

Lori La Bey talks with Maude’s Awards, which was developed in 2019 to gather and share innovations that will enrich the lives of people living with dementia and their care partners.

Maude’s Awards annually presents up to eight awards for existing innovations that have demonstrated success in one of four categories of care.

Marilyn Raichle grew up in the shadow of Alzheimer’s. Nearly everyone in her father’s family and many in her mother’s developed the disease. Her mother Jean told her, “When we get Alzheimer’s, walk away. There is nothing you can do, so live your life and don’t sacrifice it for us.”   Instead, Raichle became transformed, embracing the value and joy of people who are living with, not suffering from, dementia.

Marilyn Raichle began her career in the performing arts. She founded the Seattle International Children’s Festival, introducing children to world culture through the performing arts. In 2007, she received a Master of Public Administration from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government. Upon returning to Seattle, her career was upended when she became the family caregiver for her parents, both of whom were developing dementia.

Gary Glazner is the founder and Executive Director of the Alzheimer's Poetry Project (APP), which provides programming in 36 states and internationally. The APP was listed as a “best practice” for the National Endowment for the Arts’ “Arts and Aging Initiative.”  NBC's “Today” show, PBS NewsHour and NPR's “All Things Considered” have featured segments on Glazner’s work. Glazner is the author of  Dementia Arts: Celebrating Creativity in Elder Care, Health Professionals Press, 2014. He was a co-recipient of the International Leadership in Arts and Health Award in 2018.

Elisa Bosley is a licensed chaplain with a specific calling to older adults living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. She has 40+ years of church and parachurch ministry experience and 10+ years of service in memory-care residences, and she’s a Certified Dementia Educator with Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach to Care. She offers free spiritual care resources designed to engage elders with dementia and equip their care partners.
