Clearing the Mess in India’s Drug Regulatory System

View descriptionShare

The country’s deficient drug regulation system has come under scrutiny again. 5 people died in PGI, Chandigarh after they were given Propofol injection. This comes two months after 69 children in Gambia died after consuming cough syrups manufactured by a Haryana-based pharmaceutical company. Dr. Harshit Kukreja and Mahek Nankani discuss the challenges of substandard quality checks, poor recordkeeping and implementation loopholes in the Indian drug regulatory ecosystem.
