The iconic Sumner Sports Pavilion is getting an upgrade. 

Both the lease renewal and a full rebuild of the St Leonards Park pavilion have been approved by the Waihoro Spreydon–Cashmere–Heathcote Community Board. 

Lesley Murdoch caught up with longtime Sumner resident and rugby and cricket club member Ray Steele for a chat about the development.

Crusaders and All Blacks hooker Codie Taylor is back in action this weekend. 

The Crusaders are travelling north to face their traditional rivals, the Blues, later this evening. 

Taylor spoke with the media ahead of what’s shaping up to be another bruising Super Rugby Pacific encounter.

Some of the leading players from across the Asia-Pacific region have been competing all across the country. 

He also explained what’s happening with one of Christchurch’s prestigious golf courses, Pegasus, as it goes up for sale.

Canterbury’s head coach is heading offshore at the end of the month, taking up a role coaching with English County Middlesex. 

But before he leaves, the team will be facing off against Wellington in the Ford Trophy Grand Final.
