The curtain has come down on Christchurch’s “temporary” stadium, the Apollo Projects Stadium. 

Lesley Murdoch revisits the how, why, and the when – the stadium’s origins in the immediate aftermath of the 2011 earthquake.  

To do so, she was joined by the Earthquake Minister of the time and current Speaker of the House, Gerry Brownlee.

She’s fresh off an Australian meet at which she set 12 New Zealand records, including a world-record swim in the 400 metre individual medley.  

She backed it up at the 2026 NZ Masters Championships in Auckland, claiming gold in the 400 metre medley (65+), clocking a time of 6:01.54. 

Crotty joined Lesley Murdoch to chat about her achievements.

The Tactix took home a gold at the 2026 Canterbury Sports Awards. 

They beat out the Crusaders to win the High Performance Sports Team of the Year category.  

Kate Agnew, Tactix GM, joined Lesley Murdoch to acknowledge the award and sing the praises of the team.

Golfers in Canterbury are set to lose a key location, with the Pegasus golf course, north of Christchurch, expected to be mowed over. 

Townhouse Developer Wolfbrook Property has purchased the town's 18-hole golf course, with plans to carve it up for housing. 

The company says the course will be temporarily open, free of charge. 

Golf Management+Marketing Director Mike Godinet told Lesley Murdoch frustration should be aimed at the previous owners who mismanaged the property, not Wolfbrook. 

He says it's makes commercial sense but will make locals unhappy.
