Episode 160: My Friend Newton Faulkner

View descriptionShare

It wouldn't matter if Newton Faulkner had one hit or not - he'd still be a wonder. Whether it's his inventive and dizzying guitar playing or his stirring, emotive voice, Faulkner has remained one of the more charming and entertaining prospects of the singer-songwriter circuit - both in his native UK and abroad. He's spent most of the last decade working on his terms, outside of the structure of major labels and primarily touring with little more than a pedal board and his tour manager - who also happens to be his sister. What can we learn from the freewheelin' Newton Faulker? Quite a lot, as it turns out. From teenage punk bands to sold-out theatres, there's not much this ginger ninja hasn't done.

Newton's new EP 'Chapter I - I Can Pretend' is out now via Battenberg Records.
