English Description

Investigators are continuing to determine what caused the helicopter crash in Chatsworth involving NBC4 and Telemundo 52. The aircraft was covering another fatal accident when it went down, killing aerial reporter Eliana Moreno and pilot George Marciniw, as well as a person on the ground. The NTSB is reviewing video of the crash and expects to release a preliminary report in the coming weeks.

On the economic front, the Federal Reserve raised interest rates for the first time in three years as inflation remains above its target. The move could mean higher borrowing costs for credit cards, auto loans, and other forms of credit, while President Donald Trump again called for significantly lower rates and criticized the Fed.

In immigration news, California and other states are challenging a new “public charge” rule that would give immigration officials greater discretion when evaluating applications for permanent residency. We also look at promising research into a new MRI contrast agent that could potentially help detect lung tumors at much earlier stages.

We close with an extraordinary story of hope: two sisters born in Ethiopia and joined at the head were successfully separated after a more than 24-hour operation at a children's hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. More than 60 medical professionals took part in the complex procedure as the girls began their recovery and rehabilitation.

This episode is hosted by Juan Carlos González and Irma Blanco.
