The programme is intended to demystify myths and mysticism on albinism, whilst highlighting challenges and achievements of people with albinism.

International Albinism Awareness Day

Today is the end of an era. After four years and ten months The Albinism Report has finally come to the end and will no longer be aired on Channel Africa.

We thank the station for allowing us to share the enlightened narrative for all these years and sharing informative discussions around albinism. Today we close the chapter on 246 episodes but the conversations don’t stop here.

To talk about the show and how it impacted some lives out there we have our producer Machaba Matsapola and friends of the show.

We have Lesley Ann Van Selm from Khulisa Social Solutions who has been a regular guest on the show and have invited The Albinism Report team to many of her conferences and workshops on albinism, even travelled together to Zimbabwe.

We also have Innocentia Mgijima Konopi who is a human rights lawyer and have worked with the Center for Human Rights at University of Pretoria, Innocentia also hosted a number of conferences on workshops hosting albinism awareness activists from across the African continent, Brenda Mudzimu who is the founder and director Miss Albinism Trust, Philadelphia Motladiile-Kenneth who is the founder and director of Mr. & Miss Albinism Botswana and Godfrey Mphatswe who is the founder and director of Mr. & Miss Albinism South Africa.

We are joined by Abongile Xhantini who is an albinism awareness advocate and founder of Holding Albus and Marvalyn Green who is also an albinism awareness advocate from the United Kingdom.

Marvalyn is a lady with albinism of Caribbean descent and founder of #Yell4Change which spreads the yellow message on albinism awareness.

Also, to commemorate Pride Month (June), we have Thoto Sassa who is an openly gay man with albinism, he’s an administrator by profession and member of Albinism People with Vision.

June 13 marks International Albinism Awareness Day (IAAD), and today we celebrate and talk to different persons with albinism from different parts of the continent to commemorate IAAD. 

The theme for 2022 is United In Making Our Voice Heard.  

From Ghana we have Kwame Daklo who is a researcher and a human rights activist, we also have Peter Ogik from the Source of the Nile Union of Persons with Albinism in Uganda, we also have model and culinary chef from South Africa but based in Atlanta, United States of America Boitumelo Mokoena.  

We also have a message from the United Nations Independent expert on albinism Muluka Miti-Drummon…
