Jonathan Khabazela Fairbairn (standing in for Relebogile Mabotja) speaks to consumer journalist Wendy Knowler about a surprising surcharge affecting some car renters. Did you know that if you have a Code 10 driver’s licence now known as a C1, essentially a truck licence  at least one car rental company will automatically add a R100 surcharge to your bill? It’s a charge you might not even notice when signing the rental agreement. So why the extra cost? According to the rental company, it's because drivers with a Code 10 licence are statistically involved in more accidents than those with a Code 8 licence. Wendy looked into this after a listener contacted her, shocked to find R800 added to her rental bill  for simply  having the “wrong” licence.
