Kgomotso Modise (standing in for Relebogile Mabotja) speaks to Anele Nzimande-Maphanga a Cultural Commentator about Recently, South African fashion house MaXhosa Africa, founded by Laduma Ngxokolo, showcased its Fall/Winter 2026 “Siyikulture” collection at Paris Fashion Week. During the show, performers including Robot Boii brought elements of Skhothane culture to the runway energetic dance, flamboyant fashion, and even the symbolic pouring of custard onto luxury items. The moment sparked debate online. Some people celebrated it as bold cultural expression, while others felt it was embarrassing or misunderstood, exploring  whether Skhothane culture is being misinterpreted and what it actually represents.
