CARTE BLANCHE
As someone who spent a LOT of my school years standing in the choir stalls, I’ve always been interested in the stories coming out of the Drakensberg Boys Choir School. It’s an institution in South Africa, created in 1967 and producing the highest calibre of male choristers ever since. A few of my own friends had the privilege of studying there, and all spoke of not just the joy of the wonderful music they made together, but the deep bonds of friendship that were formed between the boys.
There was a lovely example shared on Carte Blanche last night as producer Liz Fish took viewers into the school to meet two young pupils from very different backgrounds, who have found a sense of sanctuary at the school.
