Jamaica once again has a poet laureate, an honorary title that has not been awarded in over 50 years: the distinguished academic and poet Mervyn Morris, OM. Morris, Professor Emeritus of Creative Writing and West Indian Literature at the University of the West Indies, is the author of Is English We Speaking (1999), Making West Indian Literature (2005) and six books of poetry including I been there, sort of (2006).

The National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) wishes to announce the appointment of the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr Waseem Carrim. The NYDA embarked on a process to fill a vacancy of its accounting officer, following the resignation of its former CEO, Mr Khathu Ramukumba.
The NYDA Board set itself a period of four (4) months since the resignation of the former CEO and we are happy that this process was resolved speedily and within the set timeframe.
