A new documentary, The Asian Aspiration - Can Africa Become The Next Asia, argues that Africa should follow the economic mode of Asian countries such as China, Japan, Korea, Singapore and Taiwan, amongst others. The documentary draws on research by South Africa based Brenthurst Foundation and starts off with a sombre narration by Ugandan pop star and politician, Bobi Wine, who narrates the challenges of poverty and inequality in Africa and throughout its upbeat tone parallels the continent to the Asian economic growth. Doing this, the documentary featuring contributions from former Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo and former Prime Minister of Ethiopia Hailemariam Desalegn insists that Africa must use the economic template of Asia for its own prosperity.
• Former Nigerian president Olesegun Obasanjo
