The Soul City Institute for Social Justice has a new CEO, Phinah Kodisang took over the reins in January this year. Kodisang has 15 years of experience in the field of Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights to the position. Since joining the organisation in 2015 Kodisang has brought a wealth of experience in organisational development, advocacy, programme and grant management, to her portfolio. She has worked previously for organisations such as World Vision South Africa, Ndlovu Care Group, and the Wits Reproductive Health Institute in various positions. Soul City launched a new TV talk show last week and we speak to her ahead of World Aids Day next month.

The final state capture report has exposed a series of glaring gaps in President Cyril Ramaphosa’s testimony on the widespread looting of state resources.

It also showed that he lied when quizzed on the work of the high-level review panel on the State Security Agency.

In July 2019, former President Jacob Zuma took the stand at the state capture commission and insisted that he had no prior knowledge of the Guptas’ now infamous 2013 use of the Waterkloof military airbase. Chief Justice Raymond Zondo has recommended that the country’s Constitution be changed to allow for the president to be directly elected.

The last edition of the state capture report was released this week.   
On 22 June 2022, the minister of health published a notice in the government gazette in terms of which regulations to contain the spread of Covid-19 relating to the wearing of face masks, gatherings and persons entering the country, have been repealed.
