The appointment of Raymond Zondo as the next Chief Justice of South Africa has been met with mixed reaction.  

His appointment follows a lengthy process and public interviews conducted by the Judicial Service Commission over a month ago.  

The interview process was highly criticised in the legal quarters with some saying that the line of questioning was not equal on all candidates.  

Zondo takes over from Mogoeng Mogoeng who retired in October last year.
