September is Heritage month in South Africa. Government calls on all South Africans to use Heritage Month to foster greater social cohesion, nation building and a shared national identity.
It says the celebration of Heritage Month has created a conducive environment for all people to embrace and celebrate what was inherited or bequeathed to us. We call on all South Africans to support the culture of reading and incorporate it into their daily lifestyles.

Heritage Month

The final state capture report has exposed a series of glaring gaps in President Cyril Ramaphosa’s testimony on the widespread looting of state resources.

It also showed that he lied when quizzed on the work of the high-level review panel on the State Security Agency.

In July 2019, former President Jacob Zuma took the stand at the state capture commission and insisted that he had no prior knowledge of the Guptas’ now infamous 2013 use of the Waterkloof military airbase. Chief Justice Raymond Zondo has recommended that the country’s Constitution be changed to allow for the president to be directly elected. 

Professor David Monyae is an Associate Professor of International Relations and Political Science and Director of the Centre for Africa, China Studies at the University of Johannesburg and Sanusha Naidu is from the Institute for Global Dialogue..

On 22 June 2022, the minister of health published a notice in the government gazette in terms of which regulations to contain the spread of Covid-19 relating to the wearing of face masks, gatherings and persons entering the country, have been repealed.
