Zambia's Former First Lady Esther Lungu has been arrested and charged with money laundering and possession of property suspected to be proceeds of crime.

It has been reported that ahead of her questioning, the Zambian Police deployed officers in full riot gear, sealing off access to the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) offices to control the crowd.

Lungu, who denied all charges, was released on police bond.

Recently various development partners met with the AUC Chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat, and other leaders in the AU Commission to discuss how to strengthen cooperation between them.

At least ten people were shot dead and 63 more injured as a result of last week's post-election protests in Mozambique.

This is according to medical associations as the southern African nation braces for further demonstrations.

Protests broke out before and after Mozambique's electoral commission announced that the ruling party Frelimo had won the October 9 poll, extending its 49 years in power.

Opposition candidates, civil society groups and observers said the election had been rigged.
