Despite progress being made by law enforcements and Anti-Human Trafficking civil organisations to combat Human trafficking, there are increasing cases of children, women and men being smuggled into South Africa and beyond the borders.
According to the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development, in the last year 74 people were rescued from human trafficking, most of them women, children, and young people under the age of 25.
To highlight the serious dangers and human rights violations of human trafficking, World Day Against Trafficking in Persons is observed today.
