The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) has expressed deep concern over the rapidly increasing displacement in Northern Mozambique, as the conflict entering its eighth year shows signs of intensifying.
Recent violence forced nearly 22,000 people to flee their homes in a single week in late September. The agency notes that this latest wave of displacement is among the largest recorded this year, with over 100,000 people already forced to escape.
Lulu Gaboo spoke to Isadora Zoni, Communications Officer for UNHCR in Mozambique, to provide further insight into the humanitarian situation.
