UNHCR calls on the international community to act swiftly in tackling the growing number of refugees in Uganda fleeing the Eastern DRC

The UN refugee agency, UNHCR is calling on the international community to act swiftly and generously to tackle the growing number of refugees in Uganda. Since M23 rebels captured a border town in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo over the weekend, more than 2-thousand refugees have crossed into Uganda. According to the UNHCR, more than 50-thousand refugees are expected to cross into Uganda by the end of 2024. Lulu Gaboo spoke to Frank Walusimbi, Associate Communications Officer at UNHCR in Uganda.
