A new UNAIDS report has highlighted the growing impact of funding disruptions on the global HIV response. While countries moved quickly to prevent treatment interruptions, the report warns that the future of treatment coverage remains fragile, with HIV prevention, testing services and community-led organisations facing significant challenges.

The report comes ahead of the UN General Assembly High-Level Meeting on HIV/AIDS later this month, where member states are expected to adopt a new declaration to guide the global response over the next five years.

To discuss the report's findings and what they mean for the fight against HIV and AIDS, Lulu Gaboo spoke with Anne Githuku-Shongwe, UNAIDS Regional Director for East and Southern Africa.
