UN Security Council votes to extend MONUSCO's  peacekeeping mission for another year

The United Nations Security Council has voted to extend the UN's Organisation Stabilisation Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO)'s peacekeeping mission for another year- amid expectations for MONUSCO to fully withdraw from the DRC on 31 December this year. The decision by the security council to extend the mission mandate by a year- follows a tripartite talk in Luanda, Angola to facilitate direct dialogue between the DRC and Rwanda failed to take place due to the absence of President, Paul Kagame. Samora Mangesi spoke to a Political analyst and Pan- Africanist,  Didier Bayeye.
