The United Nations Security Council has voted to extend the UN's Organisation Stabilisation Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO)'s peacekeeping mission for another year- amid expectations for MONUSCO to fully withdraw from the DRC on 31 December this year. The decision by the security council to extend the mission mandate by a year- follows a tripartite talk in Luanda, Angola to facilitate direct dialogue between the DRC and Rwanda failed to take place due to the absence of President, Paul Kagame.
