As Ebola infections continue to surge in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), neighbouring Uganda has officially declared the end of its latest Ebola outbreak after completing the mandatory 42-day monitoring period with no new cases.

The declaration follows the discharge of the country's last Ebola patient in mid-June. Meanwhile, the situation in the DRC continues to deteriorate, with reported cases rising to more than 3,200 and at least 1,405 deaths recorded.

Unathi Batayshe spoke to Channel Africa's Correspondent in Uganda, Mike Arereng.
