 The Southern African Development Community (SADC) held a virtual Extraordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Organ Troika this past weekend to discuss the post-election situation in Mozambique.

It mandated the SADC Panel of Elders, supported by the Ministerial Committee of the Organ (MCO) Troika Member States, namely Malawi, Zambia and the United Republic of Tanzania, and the SADC Secretariat, to engage with the Government of Mozambique and key leaders of the opposition on the post-election environment in Mozambique, and report to the Chairperson of the SADC Organ by January 15th.

The summit was chaired by Tanzanian president, Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan. But questions are being raised if SADC is doing all it can on the continent.

Samora Mangesi spoke to a political analyst in Tanzania, Dr Albanie Marcus.
