The Department of Disaster Management Affairs has confirmed that the Reserve Bank of Malawi has opened dedicated donation accounts in both Malawi Kwacha and foreign currency as the government ramps up efforts to repatriate an estimated 10,000 Malawians from South Africa. The voluntary programme, described as a "national humanitarian mission", was launched in response to growing concern over reported tensions with undocumented foreign nationals in South Africa.
