Tensions are again escalating in Madagascar, where thousands of mostly Gen Z protesters have taken to the streets of Antananarivo, in protests against the appointment of a new Prime Minister by the country's recently sworned in millitary leader, Colonel Michael Randrianirina. The Colonel seized power in the island last week following the impeachment and flight of President Andry Rajoelina. Young protesters say the move betrays promises of democratic reform and transparency, accusing the new military-led administration of tightening its grip instead of preparing for elections. For a look at what this means for the country and nations in the region, Lulu Gaboo spoke to Expert in African security governance at the Royal Danish Defence College, Professor Thomas Mandrup.
