South Africa’s Supreme Court of Appeal is hearing an appeal by the Lungu family against a ruling by the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria, which found that Zambia is entitled to repatriate the remains of former Zambian President Edgar Lungu for a state funeral and burial. The Lungu family and the Zambian government have been at odds since Lungu died in Pretoria in June 2025.
