South Africa’s Supreme Court of Appeal hears appeal by the Lungu family over repatriation of former Zambian President Edgar Lungu’s remains

South Africa’s Supreme Court of Appeal is hearing an appeal by the Lungu family against a ruling by the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria, which found that Zambia is entitled to repatriate the remains of former Zambian President Edgar Lungu for a state funeral and burial. The Lungu family and the Zambian government have been at odds since Lungu died in Pretoria in June 2025.
