New research from the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP), shows that shifting rainfall patterns are driving global instability.
The 2025 Ecological Threat Report, finds that regions experiencing more extreme wet and dry seasons face four times higher conflict deaths than those with stable rainfall, while natural disasters displaced 45 million people in 2024, the highest figure recorded since 2008.
