South Africa’s Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training, Yusuf Cassim, addressed the media in Pretoria on administrative issues at the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS), as well as what he described as xenophobic sentiments directed at him.
Cassim, who was appointed earlier this month by President Cyril Ramaphosa, outlined the department’s position on challenges facing NSFAS and responded to concerns regarding his appointment and public reactions to it.
