The Foreign Affairs Ministers of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo are today expected to sign a peace agreement in Washington in the US that aims to ending fighting in eastern Congo. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is expected to witness the ceremony. The long-awaited peace agreement is said to be a step toward ending months of intense fighting in the DRC. The conflict has ravaged eastern DRC, claiming thousands of lives and displaced hundreds of thousands of people. Congo has accused Rwanda of supporting the M23 rebels - a group leading the takeover of many cities in the Eastern DRC.
