A recent study conducted by South Africa's (SA) Stellenbosch University has unveiled a concerning trend among SA teachers, who are grappling with overwhelming administrative burdens and emotional stress. 

The findings indicate that half of the educators surveyed are contemplating exiting the profession within the next ten years, attributing their decision to burnout and inadequate mental health resources. Furthermore, 40% of teachers are unwilling to accept positions in rural areas.

South African athlete Temotio Jacopo, also known as Temo, is set to run 115 kilometres in a single day on 14 November 2026 to raise cancer awareness. Through the challenge, he aims to raise 60 300 US dollars, or approximately one million rand, for the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA). The funds will support CANSA's work in providing care, resources and assistance to people living with cancer and their families. Malawi Congress Party (MCP) is reportedly planning to amend its constitution to allow former President Lazarus Chakwera to contest the 2030 general election as its presidential candidate. Under the party's current rules, Chakwera is barred from leading the party or standing as its candidate again following his defeat in the September 2025 election. The party has reportedly confirmed that its structures and National Executive Committee have discussed changing the rules, arguing that Chakwera retains a strong mandate within the party and remains its best chance of regaining power.
