Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Community Safety, Wessels Morweng, in the North West province of South Africa, has stated that 20 illegal miners resurfaced yesterday at the Margaret Shaft, bringing the total number of miners who have resurfaced since August 18 to 1,259.
The MEC also noted that on Friday, a note was sent from underground indicating that approximately 500 illegal miners remain below, with 300 of them unwell. They have also requested more food.
