Leaders of the East African Community (EAC) gathered in Arusha for the 25th Ordinary Summit of EAC Heads of State, at a time when the region is facing one of its most complex security and humanitarian crises in recent years.
Held under the theme "Deepening Integration for Improved Livelihoods of EAC Citizens," the summit took place against the backdrop of escalating conflicts in Sudan, South Sudan, and the eastern region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
The meeting brought together heads of state from the bloc's eight member countries its highest decision-making body to discuss institutional reforms among other things.
