South Africa's opposition party the Economic Freedom Fighters is holding its 3rd National People's Assembly at the Nasrec Expo Centre in Johannesburg.

Eligible voting delegates will elect their new leadership to lead the party in the next five years. The road leading to this elective conference has been affected by defections by some of its senior members including, the party's Deputy President Floyd Tshivhambu, Advocate Dali Mpofu and many others who have joined the newly installed MK party.

A civil society organisation- the African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (ACCORD) hosted a workshop titled Reflections on the 2024 Elections in Southern Africa: Outcomes, Trends and Prospects for the Region.

The workshop was aimed at reflecting on the 2024 elections and their link to political stability and good governance in Southern Africa.

Zimbabwe's Senate has taken a significant step toward abolishing the death penalty, approving a bill that could end the practice in the country.

The law, which has not been enforced for nearly two decades, now awaits the president's signature to take effect. According to a statement from Parliament on Thursday, senators passed the bill late Wednesday, marking a key development in the nation's justice reforms.
