The topic of illegal immigration is currently making global headlines. The United States government has responded to this challenge by deporting migrants to several African states. Sierra Leone is the latest African country to receive migrants deported from the US amid President Donald Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigration. A plane carrying nine West African migrants landed at Sierra Leone’s international airport, just outside the capital, Freetown, on Wednesday morning.
In South Africa, protests are held daily against illegal immigrants. Meanwhile, Ghana this morning repatriated 300 nationals from South Africa as part of the country’s efforts to protect its citizens from what has been described as xenophobic tensions and violence.
