Hundreds of people gathered in Johannesburg, South Africa, for the Alkebulan Immigrants Global Heritage Festival, held under the theme, "Celebrating Diversity and Building Networks that Transcend Borders."Organizers of the festival describe it as more than just a ceremony saying that it's a celebration of journeys, achievements, and positive contributions, reflecting the spirit of unity and Ubuntu.

The event offers an opportunity for diverse communities to come together. Attendees underscored the importance of Unity amongst African countries.

The event organisers at a holiday funfair in Oyo State, Nigeria have been arrested after several children died during a stampede at the fair.

The injured were taken to local hospitals and parents were asked to check for missing persons.

Event organisers at a holiday funfair in Oyo State, Nigeria arrested 

The Commissioner of the South African Border Management Authority (BMA), Dr Michael Masiapato, and the Chief Executive Officer of Airports Company South Africa (ACSA), Ms Mpumi Mpofu, held a media briefing this morning at the OR Tambo International Airport to address key operational updates and collaborative efforts between the BMA and ACSA to ensure seamless border management and security, particularly during the peak holiday season.

The aim of the briefing was also to provide insights into the measures being implemented to enhance the efficiency and security of South Africa's ports of entry, particularly airports, during this critical period.

Border Management Authority and the Airport Company updates on measures being implemented to enhance the efficiency and security of South Africa's ports of entry

A survey by Nigeria's National Bureau of Statistics has revealed that more than 2 million people were kidnapped in the West African nation between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, 91% of the kidnappings were attributed to ransom demands, while other cases were due to political, criminal or terrorist motives.

The survey has also found that Nigerians paid a cumulative 1.42 billion dollars to kidnappers within the same period.
