A high-level international conference on re-imagining democracy in Africa and the Global South is underway at the Department of International Relations and Cooperation Conference Centre in Pretoria, South Africa (SA).
The event is hosted by International IDEA in partnership with the Open Society Foundations, the African Union, Switzerland's Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, the European Union, and South Africa's DIRCO. It comes at a critical moment for democracy globally, amidst shifting geopolitics, democratic backsliding, and growing calls for inclusive governance.
Lulu Gaboo spoke to Dr Chukuemeka Eze, Director, Democratic Futures in Africa, Open Society Foundation.
