Gambian authorities have recovered 2.5 million dollars from the forfeiture and sale of a property owned by former President Yahya Jammeh
Gambian authorities say they have recovered 2.5 million dollars from the forfeiture and sale of a property in the United States owned by former President Yahya Jammeh. The Gambia Reparations Commission says the funds will be used to provide reparations to victims of human rights abuses during his rule. The money was transferred by the US government following the sale of Jammeh's luxury mansion in Potomac, Maryland. Jammeh ruled The Gambia for more than two decades before leaving power in 2017, after rejecting the results of the 2016 presidential election. Lulu Gaboo spoke to Gambian journalist Sankulleh Janko.
