Debate underway on how SA’s upcoming elections will change the fortunes of women in the country

Armed men are raping and sexually assaulting children, including infants as young as one, amid the nationwide conflict rippling across Sudan. Sudan has filed a case against the United Arab Emirates at the International Court of Justice  (ICJ) for allegedly violating its obligations under the Genocide Convention by arming the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The Sudanese government has frequently accused the United Arab Emirates of supporting the RSF in an almost two-year-old civil war. The UAE has since indicated that it would seek immediate dismissal of the case, which it said lacked any legal or factual basis. Congolese nationals in South Africa are this afternoon expected to march to the United States Embassy in the capital Pretoria, calling for sanctions to be imposed on the Rwandan authorities for their role in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo conflict. They are accusing Rwandan president Paul Kagame of committing genocide. Lulu Gaboo spoke to Channel Africa reporter Michael Mbewe.
