African Vaccination Week has kicked off aimed at strengthening immunization programmes in the African region. The campaign is held in conjunction with the World Immunization Week. Each year, a theme is chosen to reflect regional public health priorities. It was launched in April 2011. Throughout African Vaccination Week, GEMS is urging governments, communities, and individuals to redouble their efforts in immunization, ensuring that life-saving vaccines are accessible to all.
