Africa Day 2026 is being commemorated today across the continent under the African Union's continued call for unity, development and social cohesion. The day marks the founding of the Organisation of African Unity, now the African Union, in 1963. But amid ongoing tensions around migration and growing calls for African solidarity, many say the day is also a reminder of the work still needed to build a united continent.
