ActionSA files high court papers over alleged SAPS Phala Phala cover-up

View descriptionShare

South Africa's (SA) opposition party ActionSA has filed papers in the North Gauteng High Court against the SA Police Service, accusing it of a politically driven attempt to shield members of the Presidential Protection Service (PPS) involved in the Phala Phala cover-up.

The party is seeking the records of disciplinary hearings that cleared PPS members General Wally Rhoode and Constable Rekhoto of wrongdoing, despite adverse findings by the Public Protector and IPID - Independent Police Investigative Directorate. ActionSA says it will continue to pursue the matter to ensure accountability for the Phala Phala scandal.

Lulu Gaboo spoke to the National Chairperson of ActionSA, Michael Beaumont.
