This morning on the discourse we meet a man whose career has taken him from the worlds of finance and investment management into politics, publishing and pan-African activism. Zimbabwean-born businessman, investor and author Joseph Makamba Busha, better known as JM Busha, is the founder of the JM Busha Investment Group, the political movement FreeZim Congress, and the pan-African initiative JM Busha 54 Races for Peace and Unity in Africa - a campaign that uses sport, culture, dialogue and civic engagement to promote peace and responsible leadership across the continent. His latest initiatives include the Africa Month Dinner in Johannesburg, which brought together ambassadors, diplomats and policymakers from across Africa and featured former African Union Commission Chairperson Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, as well as a continental Peace Pledge encouraging Africans to commit personally to peace, ethical leadership and social responsibility. Busha is also an author whose books, including Cries for Peace and Justice and My Thoughts: Africa's Future Begins in Our Minds, wrestle with some of Africa's biggest questions - leadership, governance, identity, accountability, democracy and the future of the continent. Peter Ndoro caught up with him recently to find out more about what shaped his worldview, and what kind of Africa does he believe is still possible.
