On the 1st of December the World Health Organisation(WHO) joins partners and communities to commemorate World AIDS Day 2024.
The day will be commemorated under the theme "Take the rights path: My health, my right!".
WHO is calling on global leaders and citizens to champion the right to health by addressing the inequalities that hinder progress in ending AIDS.
In 2023, an estimated 39.9 million people were living with HIV globally.
To discuss HIV/AIDS in Africa further, Peter Ndoro spoke with Mark Heywood, a South African human rights and social justice activist, as well as the co-founder of the Treatment Action Campaign
