What can be done to curb violence against women in SA?

It has been 22 years since the African Union Heads of States meeting signed a protocol to the African Charter on Human and People's Rights on the Rights of Women in Africa.

But, how much has the committment that got to be known as the Maputo Protocol, done to curb violence against women?

In South Africa the Department of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities says it is concerned about the rising cases of domestic and intimate partner violence.

A 2024 study by the country's Human Sciences Research Council say one in three women in South Africa have experience physical intimate partner violence in their lifetime.
