As Africa commemorates the day, the continent once again reflects on the ideals of unity, liberation, peace, and development that inspired the founding of the Organization of African Unity in 1963, now the African Union. This year's celebration comes at a time of significant geopolitical shifts around the world. From global economic uncertainty and climate challenges to rising conflicts, competition among world powers, and Africa's growing strategic importance on the international stage, the continent finds itself navigating both opportunities and complex challenges.
