US tightens visitor visa rules, may require security bonds for 38 countries

The United States (US) is tightening its visitor visa rules. From January 21, applicants from 38 countries seeking tourist or business visas may be required to post a refundable security bond of between five-thousand and $15 thousand.

The State Department says the decision on the bond amount will be made by consular officers during visa interviews.
